United operates the only scheduled nonstop service between the US mainland and Madeira: Newark (EWR)–Funchal, launched in June 2025 on a Boeing 737 MAX 8, about three times a week, summer-seasonal and expanded for 2026. It is a long, thin route rather than a year-round trunk.
